Usually, using left over parts from the year before when it didn't sell as many as they hoped

The current iPhone SE is basically using as much of the old iPhone 8 (I think it's that one) as possible lol, the cheapest macbook pro is using 2 year old cpu's but most Apple users will lap it up anyway lol. I will say I do wish more companies would do a 'smaller' mobile phone (without the bezels ideally) like apple is with the SE though....

Hopefully the global climate will cause Nvidia prices to need to come down but somehow I just don't see it happening... this is nvidia we're talking about after all.

The iPhone 8 uses the A11 processor.

The new SE uses the same A13 processor as the top-end iPhone 11 series.

Did I say all of the parts were left over parts.... if you look at the breakdowns, you'll see what I'm on about.

No, but you were effectively implying the new SE is little more than a rebadged iPhone 8, for gullible Apple users (lol). I think benchmarks would suggest otherwise, given the A13 is significantly more powerful than the A11.

Well apart from the bare minimum being upgraded it is.... if all you base things on is performance then yeah it is faster but if you look at the entire product it hasn't actually changed much, hell it can even use the same cases.

I think this is what's likely to happen, AMD want some of that pie. I think because AMD undercut Intel so much in the CPU space people expect it'll be same with Navi but i doubt it. Best to not have high expectations anyway.

    It is WRONG.

Why do they do this? 11GB is such a strange number. RAM shouldn't ever be prime.

Nothing should be prime. I hate prime.

I disagree whilst AMD could do that if the price gap isnt big enough people will just buy Nvidia. If say you're in the market for a £700 - £800 GPU a price difference of £50
or even £100 just isn't enough especially with Nvidia doing the hard sell on features like DLSS. AMD need to price aggressively all the way up, they won't want to do that but its what they need to do to succeed.

Depends who you mean by 'people'. I'm currently using an nVidia card but if AMD are cheaper and have better power usage I'll be going with them. Though I'm not in the 700-800GBP market.

They haven't been disruptive with the current releases have they... all they've done with the current releases is make sure that bang per buck is better on their products, so essentially cheaper than nvidia but not 'as cheap as we would like'.

Basically AMD is not trying to be the number 1 seller of items in the 'consumer' market, they don't have the money to do that, they're essentially making the most money they can for the least investment.

Re: Purported details of Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 launch shared

I'm surprised no-one has commented on how it looks yet, as that topic seems to dominate much of the press coverage of this!

Personally I like the look of it, I don't like the fact it apparently adds $150 to the cost. That means that unlike last time when the FE editions were cheaper than most OEMs at launch, we're likely to see a return to Founders Edition Tax, which is a bit annoying for those of us that really want to pick one up at or near launch.

Mind you, odds are i'll still buy one even if it's through gritted teeth. My 2080 is struggling to cope pushing the newer games over 100fps @ 3440x1440 (even with RTX off) so I am definitely ready for an upgrade.

I think there's some in another thread, but yeah, looks good. Nice heatpipe and fins arrangement. A shame if it's needed though - I was hoping for more power efficient cards this gen from nVidia.

Some partners might wish to use more conventional coolers so a rectangular PCB which is 21.3cm long
That's interesting, the RTX 2080 was 10.5” (266.74mm) overall, so I'm guessing the 3xxx is shorter by quite a bit and potentially fits into smaller cases. Perhaps this is why we're seeing a new cooler design?

For me as someone in the £700-£800 market (RTX 2080 was £749 at launch) it's concerning if Nvidia decide to push prices by another 25%, that puts me down to RTX 3070 territory, which is the point I'd start looking hard at comparable performance to my current card. Which essentially means they lose a sale as I would upgrade to the RTX 3080 if the pricing remains in the same ballpark, I'm not upgrading for the same performance (and you can forget about the fluff of ray tracing as that wasn't the sell point for me personally).
