I'll still block the app if it spends minutes each day thrashing my harddrive/CPU trying to find/index any images without my asking.
My machine runs Nicehash when I'm not using it, so it thrashing the drive makes little difference to me, plus, nvme drive, so not sure I'd notice even if I were in the middle of a game of WZ..
One of the worst apps ever made now looks slightly better should be the title.
Does Mr.Panos Panties know what users actually want?
Probably, at a guess i think what normies want is pretty different than what techies want. (those terms are used with the best of intentions ).
I suspect the majority of people who use Windows want simple, it should do everything, don't want to 'waste' time learning about software.
Click on photo to look at photo.
That's all we want. I wish developers would just understand these basic concepts. I don't want software that scans my computer without my permission, I don't want a 'clever' app that can back this up or back that up, I don't want it doing anything apart from showing my pictures - that is it. If I want to edit, change, back up, whatever, then I will download the appropriate software myself.
I'll probably stick with Irfanview.
I think he might have forgotten what 'business' users want while trying to cater for the 'millennials' who don't know much outside of their mobile phones.
I hated the old windows photo app, even more with it's scanning of folders and auto adding stuff (disabled all of that).
I made sure I had access to the previous windows photo viewer, it might not be fancy but it opens images quickly etc which is what I want from a photo viewer, I can see thumbnails directly in the folder so I don't need them in the progam....
Gosh! Anyone would think that there isn't an option, within the photo app, to switch off indexing. Click. Done. No indexing. Simple.
Two seconds later, "Waaah why does it take ages to search pictures within the photo app?"
MS cannot win no matter what they do.
Agreed - the indexing is annoying but easy to turn off. I use the app all the time for simple edits I don't want to launch a heftier program for. Looks good to me.
