    Jeremy,

I don't want to get in to a heated debate about any of this with you.

Simply - we saw this notebook when in MSIs offices and I requested some pictures, because we have heard they may well be shipping it as a barebone unit. Of course our readers are interested in that.

We don't work with Sony, Tosh or any of the tier one notebook players - but more so ones targetted to the audience, such as SavRow, Alienware, And other similar notebooks

MSI do not advertise with HEXUS.

No problem - We like the fact you Format people read the news first on HEXUS

has anyone got one of these.

I'm stuck between getting the S260 or S270

    I'd love to hear more.

Battery life and graphics card are of detailed interest to me on both models (eg: how they perform)

What's a pity though is that neither the 260 or 270 have TV-Out.

no, I'm sad to say there is no-one stocking the S270 in the UK yet, and the base spec S260 for sale is pretty poor and at an over inflated price than first offered.
Best price I've found for the S260 is £898 including VAT plus £4 delivery, £900 is a fry cry than the sub £700 price Hexus quoted in the review. And this whopping £900 price tag is for the bottom spec centrino system with 256...yes 256ram and a 40 gig harddisk. I'm not looking forward to see what the S270 comes in at.

Desipte the fact that this machine is pretty much what I'm looking for for portable work I've had to re-consider this machine (S260) simpley because £900 is way too much for this low spec machine.

ha ha, I've been battering ebay for weeks now.

the only one I've found is the meridion badged version of the S250, but its again a bit poor.

There is an option I'm looking at

    http://www.etech4sale.com/notebooks/...id-141907.html

    a barebone S260.

I've mailed them asking if they have/can get one with a UK keyboard layout, if this is the case, I'll certainly be purchasing one of these and dumping in some extra's to pad it out. I'd probably be able to make a top spec S260 for the price of the bottom spec S260.

Why don't you just get those little lettering kits from stationary box? Bit of sand paper on the keys and just apply the stickers. You should be able to find them in white text.

not really a fan, if I end up spending £800 on all the kit for a nice little laptop I'd quite like it to come with the right keys on.
