    10 New Drives From Seagate

Seagate has today announced 10 new hard drives ranging from desktop and laptop models through to consumer electronics and external solutions.

The drive that seems to be getting the most hype is the 160GB 2.5" Momentus 5400.3. Using new perpendicular storage techniques, the drive is, according to Seagate: "the highest capacity notebook hard drive currently available". Also featured in the 5400.3 is Full Disk Encryption, aimed at securing all the data on your laptop in one fell swoop.

Along with the new Momentus drive are various other new products, including an 8GB 1" drive for use in handheld devices, and the new EE25 series, designed to survive in a car:
A breakthrough hard drive designed specifically for use in cars, the world's first hard drive with extreme environmental resistance that can operate in temperatures from -30 to 85 degrees C and in high-humidity and high-altitude environments. With the industry's most stringent design for ruggedness, durability and protection from hostile environments, the drive will be an ideal choice to deliver the massive capacity needed for auto makers, system manufacturers and aftermarket companies to create DVD-free navigation systems and high-quality car entertainment services.
Does that mean we're about to see an in-car entertainment boom?

For details on all 10 of the new drives announced by Seagate today, check out their press release.
