IDF August 2005 :: Intel's New Architecture Plans

Opening IDF today Intel's CEO Paul Otellini told Developers, Partners, Press and Analysts about their new Architecture.

Currently Intel have Netburst and Mobile Microarchitecture- today they are talking about the next generation microarchitecture.

In the 2nd Half Q2. They will have Woodcrest for Servers, Conroe for Desktop and Merom for Laptops. Intel will have for the first time a single, and consistent platform for developers to work on.

    In the 2nd Half Q2.
    That'll be the 4th Eighth!

That pretty much narrows it down to a particular month.
If I knew when their year started (financial year or whatever) I could work out what on earth they mean.
But I really can't be bothered.

Anybody know if they'll still use the same Pentium M socket for notebooks? (therefore we'll be able to plug these new chips into current Pentium M boards, such as my AOpen XC Cube EY-855 II?)
