That's what I thought, and I didn't mean to call you Shirley

If it is the Next FX then we have to assume that Intel are watching pretty closley, as it's proven that the FX-57 is WAYYY Faster than the current fastest Intel (Check the Latest Hexus.review)

Yeah I just read something about that, but it also said the FX-57 is faster (2.8ghz) than the FX-59/60/118/Whatever (2.6ghz) and the second core doesn't make up for it.

Google confirms that it is FX-60, no sign of an FX-59.

    Taken from http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=28152

"AMD will release its Athlon FX60 CPU in January and as Charlie reported before, it will be the first dual core FX CPU. It will have two cores but will end up clocked at 2.6GHz while the FX 57 is clocked at 2.8GHz."

Interesting that the FX-57 is actually clocked faster... looking forward to seeing the bench results!

Yeah but I doubt it would take much to push it to 2.8, assuming that like all FX's its going to be fully multiplier unlocked....

It's gotta be the FX-60, if it's a FX, there's no such thing as a FX-59. SIngle core FX end with the 57, AFAIK.

FX-60, is the next one as they are skipping the single core design and straight to duel cores, hence they skipped the number and starting fresh.

Someone count the pins its a little early but could easily be a M2 940 chip but it looks like 939 to me from the gaps but they could have stuck an extra pin in somewhere, but i put money on a FX-60

it's *definitely* a s939 packaged chip, whatever it is. There are exactly the same number of rows and columns of pins with the same number missed at the corners and the 4 in amongst the pin array as the picture of the underside of a s939 A64 in this month's PC Gamer magazine.
