I'm sure people thought the same when Microsoft said they'd be making games, and when they said they were going to be doing PC hardware, and again when they said they'd be releasing a console.
so many people trust and respect google. if they had an OS and it was just as nice to use as the next MS product then do you think people would change over?? Its been said that microsoft wont carry on as the dominent software supplier for ever, if google release an OS could that be the downfall of MS??Originally Posted by Steve

Sorry to put it so bluntly, but Microsoft are going nowhere. The quality of their product has been steadily rising lately, and the arrival of various Windows Live technologies will only enhance that.
It will be interesting to found out what Google's motive is. Are they in it for the money from sales or, as some have suggested already, is this a way of gathering information etc to be used in cynical marketing excercises???
Do we trust, or do we fear?
Matt.
Google are a company like any other, people forget this. They aren't the nice friendly giant here to crush "evil M$ lol", anything they do to compete against Microsoft is purely to get more money from a marketplace they have yet to enter. They aren't a charity.
The sooner the mindset that Google can do no wrong is out of peoples minds, then maybe things will get a fair review. At the moment we have people circle-jerking over "Google Pack", which is just grabbing some programs made by other people, and shoving them into one installer. How that is a groundbreaking move I have no idea, but various bloggers will tell you otherwise.
It's almost as bad as Apple fanboyism.
