    US analogue-to-digital switch-over set for Feb 2009

The US House of Representatives has approved February 17, 2009 as the hard cut-off date for the transition from analogue to digital TV broadcasting, according to the leading US consumer-electronics trade magazine TWICE.

TWICE reports that the date was approved as part of a budget-reconciliation bill - but only on a very tight, 216-214, vote and now passes for presidential approval having already been approved by the Senate.
