The hard drive uses SATA, so is it a module that allows you to plug in an external hard drive via SATA/eSATA and use that as your primary drive for Xbox Live content? (I had read you can't use usb drives for that.)

Aye, we were there ages ago...

I can, of course, spell it out in big capital letters for the near sighted, but the answer is quite plainly in this thread already...

Right, so just for completeness sake, are they deveolpment kits so you keep on seeing new stuff on Xbox live before it goes public?

Ok, these are two XDK XBox 360s, which means they can play unsigned code. This means that publishers can send us early code, or we can download it from an FTP and burn it to a DVD ourselves and play a game months before release.

Being Dev kits, these Xboxes don't connect to the public XBox Live servers but a private server. On here pubs will upload demos, videos, game extras etc to test it out before making them public, so we can also play code early by downloading it from here too.

Given what these things can do, getting hold of one is bloody hard... so just don't ask what I did to get two! (And yes, I do feel rather chuffed...)

Hehe, I don't have both of them, Steven has the other one.

To be honest, unless you've got unsigned code for them, there's not much point in having one. They won't run standard XBox 360 games and for some code we get we have to flash the Xbox 360 in dev kit mode to load a certain version of the SDK first.
