    Wii games to retail at around £40 and PS3 games £50

    A French gaming site are either making it up, or they have some inside info on the price of the next-gen games.

    Check out the Headline for more info.

    I think it'll be really important to the PS3 to price the games well. Anymore than £50 and it'll be even tougher to warrant the PS3's huge costs.

    Unlikely to be verifiable and consequently, of any substance. Still, I think the prices are probably right, though maybe with a leway of 10 pound either way?

    I thought this was VERY interesting:

    Damn I hope they get the price of the main box down that low.

    Well in all fairness, the Wii isn't 'cutting edge' as far as the tech goes, so it would be a bad move to price it over 130quid tbh...

    ...and as far as the controller goes, it's really a different 'twist' on LOS input devices, the only difference is that they have a tilt (gyroscopic) and possibly two orthagonal accelarometers, but again, this information is relayed back to the Wii over iR.

    Note: My buddy was like "its more than tilt isnt it?"..."they know where they are in space and stuff". Good point, but my answer was, "i.e. the double differential of acceleration is displacement..." so if you differentiate acceleration you get velocity, differetiate it again, and you are left with displacement. I concluded with "also just by having 2 of them orthagonally they can cover the whole 2pi(radians) of movment just by taking the resultant vector of acceleration between the two sensors (say Ax and Ay) heh".

    i think (hope) wii games will vary wildly in price. zelda is worth £40 new, but wiisports isn't. i know nintendo said they were going to try & push for variable pricing, but in the end that's down to the retailers (and everyone knows how bad GAME are for ignoring the RRP)

    I was with you on the first line, but you totally lost me after that.

    Great mechanics bsodmike, but think about it, surely for movement in 3 planes (x, y and z) your going to need the three accelerations. Also by the double differential method you've stated we get no information about the tilt/angle of the control itself only its position in a 2d plane.

    Nintendo have always had variable pricing on their games. Look at warioware as a great example of this. Anyway what £40 reatil means is that shops will sell games for £35 gust like x360 games are £44.99 most places and for a wii game i can take a £5 price hike
    AMD3000+ ATIX800XL + GBNF44x mobo.. all at stock because they're good enough atm + CA A1 amp-->Mission 73S Loigtech MX1000 + 1GB ram + 1/3 TB HD array
    Wintendo XP + Linux (when it works) .. just incase you were wondering

    Shoot - yes, thanks for pointing that out. Forgot about vertical displacement...(z). So I guess you'd take the resultant vector of x & y and that with z (i.e. [(x & y) & z]) -> expanded sqrt(sqrt(x^2+y^2)^2+z^2) --> sqrt(x^2+y^2+z^2)...

    Tilt/angle: from the tilt sensor/gyro

    Oh..I forgot to mention, also it has a speaker .... really there isn't anything *that* revolutionary about the Wii controller once you break it down, but it is the 'first' implementation taking gaming closer to a 'VR' like system...
