Me neither - and, personally, I'd not sign up to any broadband service without seeing the details of the fair-usage policy.

Oh, but know that if the policy had been anywhere I could find, I'd have linked to it or put an extract into the original article.

Too true - I find it conspicous by it's abscence. Remember it's a 12 month contract and the deal sucks if you're away from a LLU exchange (40gb limit)

Got home and saw that I had a letter from Sky about Sky BB, saying that they were offering broadband to all their customers, but my exchange wasn't one they could do at the moment, but they'll inform me when it's updated or something....

I shouldn't have thrown the letter away

keep looking at the new toys in sky engineering - no word yet on ethernet interfaces on their boxes - but bound to happen very soon, the addition of a router to the package makes it a particularly good deal.

Anyone know if i can check if if my exchange is part of the LLU roll out?

I don't have Sky at the moment but was thinking about it tonight and i'd be very tempted if i can get the Max broadband package. That plus a 4 entertainment package mix would only be a few £ more than my current 2mbit ADSL.

    This page says:

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?
The most important thing to do now is to Register and let us know you're interested in getting Sky Broadband. As part of registration we will let you know what different Sky Broadband products are available in your area. We are expecting high levels of interest in this service and registration allows us to manage the demand. Once you've registered we will keep you up to date and let you know when it's time to buy.

Not the normal way of doing things, really.

i was hoping there was another way, without giving Sky all my details. oh wel

    EDIT: Just registered.

Thank you for registering your interest in Sky Broadband. The good news is that we believe that your phone number is in an area where we hope to be able to offer Sky Broadband Base, Mid and Max in the new year
I guess by that time we'll know what their service is like. I wonder if any other LLU providers will move into my exchange before then, i don't think anyone has at the moment.

Anyone wanting non-BT ADSL will find The Broadband Resource useful.

This page has links across the top giving you info on the state of unbundling for 10 ISPs - though that's a far from complete list.

    http://www.samknows.com/broadband/llu-league.php

For instance, Pipex isn't listed and nor, not surprisingly perhaps, is Sky.

Anyone got pointers for better LLU listings?

Good link Bob. I always forget about SamKnows, or more specifically i forget the domain name

According to that list there is nothing in Scotland, let alonf Aberdeen.

On a side note, after hunting about last night, it turns out you can get Sky working with a DVB-S card and MediaPortal. A home built PVR becomes a lot more tempting again...

We won't get neither then... Our house is not positioned very well, too many tall trees surrounding to get a good signal for the dish. The Engineer who came out today told us that. If you're not a Sky customer you won't get Sky broadband!

To check if you can get SKY Broadband at the moment, look at the 'Easynet' Unbundled list as BSkyB bought them a few months ago and this is the network they are using for their new service.

    Regards,

I'm in an area which is only being offered Sky Connect, it looks a good package but I wanna know how it works before I decide on any thing.

Is there any way to check which exchange you will be served by? Maybe by putting in a postcode? I live in Leavesden, which is just north of Watford and i swear that i am on the Garston exchange.

This isnt in the LLU list, but Watford is, and i would like to know if thats what i would be connected to...

...Thinking about the Max package, but FUP still needs to be cleared up first... but the price is good

Samknows can search on your postcode and number, I think. It should show LLU and BT status.

That will show your exchange, as your nearest will be the one that's used. Not certain but I think that's the case. It'd be lovely to have a choice of exchanges, as opposed to one that's a distance in parsecs away
