I have both a E6600 and a 6000+ and the AMD chip is faster.
In the "real world" Core chips are no faster.

I wish these review sites would use normal well worn windows installs instead of clean installs, because a clean install exposes Cores cache to unusual levels of performance.
In reality most people will not see anywhere near the advantages that review sites are giving to Intel at the moment.
Don't be blinded by marketing and false benchmarks folks and beware of sites with Intel advertising all over them because they are being paid by Intel to push their products.

The 6000+ is actually a very good chip and I have overclocked mine to 3430mhz on stock volts. (1.35v)

    That doesn't make any sense.

Certainly a system will lose some performance over time, but the Level 2 cache is effectively used as a short term scratch pad by the CPU and a clean install of Windows will make no difference to how these are utilised.

Benchmarking on a 'well worn windows install' would give inconsistant results as how do you know each install has been subjected to the same kind of punishment.
Clean installs give a level playing field.

A Core 2 Duo E6600 system owned by someone who fills it up with spyware and viruses along with a thousand and one bloated trial programs will certainly be slower than a well maintained X2 6000+ system, and visa versa.

Intel paid off the entire internet?
Fairly sure most sites out there would take exception to that.

3.43GHz on stock voltage, care to share a CPU-Z shot of that with verification?

Not saying the 6000+ is a bad chip but take a reality check, because you sound like a troll.

You are one of the affected are you?

Everything you have just posted shows your ignorance.

Honestly Intel could lead people like you off the edge of a cliff.

Why don't you actually do some research on what I have said?

Just did this - and went C2D - not because i'm brainwashed into thinking it's better (black helicopters over your house?) but because it simply _IS_ better.

I went from 939 to C2D as well, Intel are tops atm and for the life of my board/chip there likely to stay that way, if I'm wrong I'm wrong, but, lets be fair thats not very likely

...and (looking on scan) the E6600 is cheaper. Even if it's just - in some cases you'll notice that it's faster - surely there's now no case to go AMD?

    And I own an X2 4400+ btw

I picked my E6600 up for 120quid from ebuyer (google checkout). I own two AMD systems (one X2, one AthlonXP) in addition..
Hoping to hit 3.4ghz on water this weekend when I build the C2D system..

I like my e6600 but hate Intel structure for drivers and chipsets, lead you round and round.

Am looking to buy the amd x2 6000+ from scan @137-143 delivered to put in my asus m2n32sli deluxe that currently has 3800 in.

Would buy another e6000 but think it would be hard to fit into 940 socket.

Amd hopefully will pull something out of the hat and get my money once again for a new system rather than spares for my current systems, If i hurry up as their chips are vanishing like the previous k7 range.

Please don't flame as it's takin me nearly 3 years to build up the courage to post

    dontasciime,

Welcome to HEXUS and the forums

AMD's pricing is very attractive right now and it's hard to beat the value offered by the X2 6000+.

I'd be interested to know how high you can get the new CPU.

    Post pack with your results.

If i do decide to get the x2 6000 I doubt i will try and overclock it, The review on here suggests 3.2 was not achievable and Overclocking is something I do not have the right gear for. I like the idea of it and get some extra outta the processors I have and if I had the gear to cool them would love to push things as far as I can go and have seen on forums like this.

Tbh the x2 6000 fancy buying to replace the 3800 single core I have in the m2n32 Sli Del so that I have a spare (the spare being the 3800 once X2 6000 is in) I built that board 1 week Then decided to buy msi 975x PU ed and E6600 as I thought hey Amd is not offering me anything else over my 754/939 Cpu's and like the look of the c2d compared to spending £700 on Fx-62 which seemed to me to be overpriced and hey the e6600 looked every bit as good for the price I paid £225.

Always built Amd computers up, had a laptop I bought from Aldi for £1,000 that used Pent 4 3.06 and It was OK good spec at the time and fantastic price at the time but took it back just under 1 year later cos there were 29 dead pixels, the lappy was advertised as HT, 8*agp, yeah the Ht refused to work correctly as system builder had put value chipset in it so failed Intel's test, the 8x agp would not work at 8x Co's system builder Gericom had paired it with a 4x agp mobo only. Got my £1,000 back as well( I had really only used that laptop about 6 times in a year)

I would buy Amd again for new system when they have something Hot/stunning etc.

Thanks for the welcome, I just realised I had been registered here for nearly 3 years without posting so decided to post.

You would have to be an idiot to buy this.
It is no worse than any high end Intel CPU.

There is a discrepancy between Intel and AMD cpu's because AMD have an IMC, which isn't taken into account when comparing TDP's between manufacturers.
Besides if you want performance you have to pay for it in more ways than one.
