Too many moneys^^
By all means use failed chips from higher models, but as the review said, price wise this just doesn't make sense, saving a little extra for a 5850 makes a lot more sense.
Knowing how tight you guys are with scan, did they tell you the pricing before you launched the review?
Because right now they're not listing the HD5830 at £190... they're listing it at £215 for the XFX model and I wouldn't imagine the Sapphire will be far behind.
Card is a rip off - i think the best thing this can hope for is nvidia to launch GF100 so the suspected price drops actually take effect in which case you would still go for the 5850.

for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
disappointing results, especially as its an under performing card with a higher power draw than its substantially bigger and better brother the 5850. pricing is all wrong (especially as mentioned that cards are appearing for £215, which is more or less 5850 money) so overall its a bit of a pointless product which is competing against a card it comes no where near to. better luck next time!
Some good news and some bad,
The good, it is using full 256bit memory
The bad, only 16 rop
The good, sapphire have used their TOXIC edition cooler on it.
The bad, way over priced for the performance.
Very close but not quite, better to buy a 5850.

We've updated the pricing and scoring for both the Sapphire card and reference architecture.
The price is £50 higher than it should be and stock is in constraint. Not a good launch, we reckon.
This card is nothing more than another slap in nVIDIA's face. Gotta laugh at the fact that ATi has 9 different DX11 graphics cards on the market and nVIDIA doesn't have 1.
Some people have that budget where they just can't spend a little extra. This card fits their needs. I got a Radeon HD 4830 because I couldn't spend more than $90 at the time.
The 4830 wasn't as badgered as this though.

the 5770 is not a £125 card, it is a £110 card being gouged, and the 5850 is not a £225 card, its a £200 card being gouged. these were the launch prices and we have seen "offers" at these prices in the time since launch. i would be expecting somebody to do a "deal4today / today only" style thing at around 175-180. which means the speed of a gtx275 for the price of a gtx275 but with a hell of a lot more features and the potential after overclocking to end up faster.£125 HD 5770 and £225 HD 5850
you heard it here first

Now if it has 20 rops that would have made it a lot better card.
Until Nvidia brings out their new lines AMD can really charge what they like. I reckon when Nvidia release their counter part for this the price will drop down as low as £100.
Clearly over priced for now.
