im just seeing this as a precursor to ff XIV.
this has to be just a 'lets see what the ps3/xbox can do' type thing, then build on it for the next one.
or am i just being nieve?
still a great game so far... linear or not

ff 14 is a mmorpg mate gonna be completely different to this one, They laid out a template a few years back saying that they would pretty much alternate between a single player game and an online rpg with subscriptions so the next one like this will be 15 and that may be on the next gen consoles depending on when they come out.
I think so far this game does what you expect from final fantasy looks good interesting storyline, And they've put some training wheels on for the first few hours to g et new people into the games.
The Paradigms and general character battle get better and better as the game progresses......the story stays as captivating as ever.......but it also stays completely and utterly linear
Chapter 8 now and I can pretty much see myself being funnelled down a single corridor all the way to the end of the game *sigh* Oh well, guess you have to take the rough with the smooth.
