You seem quite clueless as to what the real story was, so I'll let you know.
The only differences between the Evergreen and Fermi launches (apart from 9 months of course), was that Nvidia seeded a very, very small amount of cards to select partners around the world. A few cards to Scan, some to the bigger German places and most to Newegg.
After that tiny initial batch ran out you could barely get hold of one for a month. Scan got a few but everybody knows they had a special deal with Nvidia going.
On the other hand, the number of Evergreen cards started to pick up a lot after 2 weeks (having ordered one for a friend on the 7th October from Scan I should know). This was despite TSMC's issues. Low availability lastest for almost the whole of October and November, but this was 100% down to TSMC's problem and huge demand for every card that got into the channel.
How you can equate that to AMD's fault is a mystery.
Gtx 480 and 470 had no availability first day either, with a warning that most stock wouldn't appear for 2 weeks

do you even read Hexus stories or just press reply and post your rubbish? actually READ what hexus ahs put - ATI had nothing available on lauch day - you really should be posting in RED text
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
Like who? You know both ATI and Nvidia has been using TSMC for years, right? And the reason for that is because there is no other viable alternative.
I wouldn't have said it if I didn't have the ability to back it up.Also, your post about 58xx availability is complete Fubar - they only became click and buy available early this year.
That quite clearly shows I ordered a 5850 from scan on the 7th October last year.
The TSMC issues also affected Nvidia too especially with their massive GF100. However, despite AMD still managed to sell a decent number of cards but supply was limited and demand was high as they had a monopoly on DX11 cards at the time.
I miss Rollo
Why was he banned in the end? Bet he's green with envy at the new AMD cards (haw haw).
So because you got a card it constitutes decent availability?
Edit: So the same rule would still apply if i was to show you a Scan order with a launch day Fermi card on it?

Incidentally, just because it's on the invoice doesn't mean it was in stock then? Or does it?
Yes, everything I've said up till now would apply.
These cards were available but in VERY small numbers. That's Fermi and Evergreen both.
If Tarinder hadn't been up during the launch of the 6800's, he would probably have thought there was no availability of the 6850 either. There were cards available, they just sold out within an hour or two. I should know, I bought one.
I'm sure it does. If it's pre-order it probably states that?
I see people from Scan posting here a lot, if any of them wants to check my claim they are welcome to go ahead. I'll provide the invoice number or whatever (I scrubbed a couple of numbers on the pic I linked). I know what I bought.
I'll take your word for it mate, I'm not intent on getting out the handbags yet.

No we've gone from no cards at all, to a very small number. This was the case for both launches.
HalloweenJack was the one who made the nonsense comments about Evergreen being the "worst launch in history". I just pointed out the facts.
Fermi was as bad as, or worse, and that was without any good reason except it was paperlaunched after a 9 month delay.
AMD launched the HD5870,HD5850,HD5770 and HD5750 within a few weeks of each other. It was only the HD5870 and HD5850 which were in short supply whereas the HD5770 and HD5750 were freely available from launch IIRC. A large number of the first HD5800 series cards were initially sold to Dell. This was due to the launch of Windows 7 and it seems Dell wanted to have high end DX11 cards in its more expensive systems.
