Great review thanks Hexus. Looks like I'll be getting a 960 evo early next year.

Don't need it much but it might be nice.

edit: second thoughts I'll probably skip it and wait for higher capacity crosspoint or similar. The latency is so much better. I have better things to be spending time on meanwhile

Open world games, especially those which support extensive modding do benefit from an SSD - in FO4 you can build massive settlements, and its the loading of these assets when you go near them which can cause problems with normal HDDs.

I wonder how this compares to the 850 Evo for endurance

Crucial reckon 360TBW for the 1TB. I think the EVO is 150TBW, although I'm not certain on that one.

The samsung drives have been proven to generally understate actual endurance by a massive amount though, like if we talk about the 850 pro for example it is almost indestructible compared to it's rating and even the Evo can handle substantially more than its rating.

TBH with Samsung and Crucial I don't think endurance is an issue. That's only from personal experience of course.

    Re: Crucial MX500 1TB

I transitioned from HDD to SSD for my boot drive a few years ago, and that was a HUGE improvement. Now I'm planning on swapping out two additional drives for SSD.

Something doesn't look quite right with the middle graph on the AS speed test

    Great review though.
