I own several MyCloud Mirror boxes, and the MyBook Live Duo boxes that came before that. I haven't set up the "cloud" accounts for them; I was content to use the built-in features on my own network. There's a web server built into the box with all the features available even without internet access.
Happily, these features include backup tools to back up directly to USB devices. And shared folders with user authentication with different levels of access, a DLNA server, etc. You can map the drive manually from Windows Explorer or using NET USE commands, and any USB drive plugged into the back shows up as a folder.
It's really strange that these features would be removed on the MyCloud Home boxes.
The earlier MyCloud devices - MyCloud Mirror and MyBook Live Duo boxes - all had the features missing in the MyCloud Home Duo boxes. Backup tools to back up directly to USB devices. Shared folders with user authentication with different levels of access. The ability to manually map drives.
Why remove them?
