There have been lots of accusations that the MSRP of Nvidia's own FE cards are a marketing stunt, and the price that Nvidia sell just the chips to custom board makers high enough that they can't possibly hit that value.

One thing i did notice over the last few days is that Hardware Unboxed tested Radeon cards on low end CPU's and found, because of driver overheads with Nvidia cards, you get better performance from Radeon cards than Nvidia, in some instances 20-30% faster.

Now that's interesting, for the longest time that was the other way around unless you were running one of a handful of Mantle/Vulkan titles. Had no idea it had flipped in AMD's favour.

There seems to be some issues with the setup that Hexus have used for their review, taking Far Cry New Dawn and the 6800xt they are down between 20 and 50 FPS compared to other reviews.

I would guess other reviewers have moved on to 5000 series CPUs, but Hexus is still on a 3950. The difference is quite large even before you switch on SAM, the gpu isn't being shown off to its best.

On the flip side, as a 3000 series owner it's closer to what I would see, which is nice. I also wouldn't wish all that work re-doing tests for all cards at all resolutions on a new platform on anyone!

You can see the 3950 to 5950 delta here:

So you think you'll get a 3060 Ti for how much exactly?

Looking on Scan I love how AMD still try and tempt me with a copy of Far Cry 6 bundled with the GPU that I can't buy

I don't think i will, i expect i will, and if my expectations are not meet i get disappointed and frustrated with whoever said i would be able to get one for £X MSRP give or take a few quid for third party designs that either add or remove value.

How much customers actually end up paying is a pointless metric as that can, and often does, change on a daily or even hourly basis so a product should always be assessed on what the manufacturer says it's worth.

Erm I just thought I'd ask the price so I could figure out if it's fair to assess it like the way you did.

Currently it's very volatile yes that's why I found it odd your point was about price.

Going back to what you said, regarding the twisted market. I think AMD cocked up here and should have just priced it off as cheaper than say a 3060 ti, and you would have been satisfied, completely ignoring that the current prices are as you say twisted. This is why nvidia owns the market, imo, because they know how to play with the customers mind. Like for example nvidia - the manufacturer - claiming their cards "worth", but everyone knows it's not going to be sold at that price.. In another thread a month or so ago someone argued that the price is dictated by the demand, completely wrote off what the manufacturer says it's worth, or the scalpers, so more about capitalism and the likes.

If you have a better way of assessing the value of a product I'm all ears as like i said whether you can or can't get a product at the price a manufacture sets dictates how disappointed and frustrated customers feel.

Like i said if you have a better way of assessing value other than price I'm all ears, if AMD priced it at the same price as a 3060 Ti then contrary to your assertion that i would've been satisfied, something i never actually said, i be just as disappointed and frustrated at AMD as i would be at Nvidia for telling me something is going to cost me X when i can't buy said product for X.

Nvidia only 'plays' with customers 'minds' if you're gullible and frankly i resent the implication that you've made.

    Hi,

This is the last card with 3950X. The next one you'll see is on 5950X with a revised suite.

  10. Received thanks from:
