(1) I still like the P5W DH's layout better, I can't stand unused expansion slots like #1 on this board.
(2) I wonder how Asus ends up with a 8-8-4-8 (28 lanes) setup with a chipset that only supports 16+4 (20) PCIe lanes. Does the IDT "switch" work like the Nvidia PCIe bridge of the GX2s?
(i.e. as an x8 device connected to the NB's secondary port that talks to and arbitrates the trafic of the cards in #3 and #5 at whatever connection width implemented)
It's not the 'motherboard makers' fault. The new intel chipsets don't support SLI for example... not yet anyway. I prefer SLI, but it will be hard to find a nicer board than this for a while i should imagine.... i know personally Crossfire doesn't seem a bad idea after seeing this board.
And God said "Let there be light." But then the program crashed because he was trying to access the 'light' property of a NULL universe pointer.
I wouldn't get too consumed with lust for this board.
Got one of these today and it won't go over 410-420FSB 1:1, regardless of vMCH or other voltages. This is with an E6700 ES CPU that I know does 3.6Ghz dual Prime stable, and memory that will do 500Mhz (tested before on a different ratio).
Can the reviewer (James?) shed some light on exactly what BIOS settings were used besides vMCH 1.7 to get 500FSB?
Does anyone know if you can use both crossfire graphics and a PCI-E raid card at the same time?
Please can somebody at hexus try a 7950 GX2 with this board.
Fired it up again this morning, but only with a P4 560 and 2 x 512MiB of memory. 7950 GX2 seems to work just fine.
MOLLY AND POPPY!
