    Garlic dip for garlic lovers.

    Posted by Blub2k for entry to the cookbook

    2 bulbs garlic
    2 tbsps Lemon juice
    1 small onion
    Fresh parsley
    3 tbsps tahinii
    6 Tbsps Olive oil
    salt
    pepper

    Roast the two bulbs of garlic at 180c for 8-10 minutes, remove from oven and allow to cool. Once the garlic has cooled then pop it out of its skins and chop it finely. Chop the small onion finely then add it to a medium shallow pan with the olive oil and the chopped garlic and fry until the onion is sweated down and soft. Remove the garlic and onion from the heat then add lemon juice, tahinii and Chopped fresh parsley and season with salt and pepper. Serve with pittas or french bread.

    Tahini is pureed seasme seeds. A bit like peanut butter but quite strong in flavour. The most easily avavilable is light tahini, but you can also get dark tahini which is made from roasted sesame seeds.

    lol, I wouldn't recommend it... you know how dry your mouth goes if you try and eat a table spoon of peanut butter? Tahini is ten times worse....

    Think I will add my humus recipe later seeing how some of you are gonna get tahini for this might as well get value for it

    Blub, is that 'houmous bi tahini'?

    Cos if so, stick it up... got a recipe for it at work, not here with me at home... it rocks!

    dunno what the difference is between "humous bi tahini" and normal one, only one I know has tahini in it, can you enlighten me?
    love it myself, is great, will have to think about the exact recipe, dont have the recipe here at work with me although it is easy enough.

    As far as I'm aware, the one I'm thinking of has tahini in it and 'normal' houmous doesn't.... I know from one place I worked, they did differentiate between the two. The tahini one comes up much lighter and has a fuller flavour.

    fair enough, I cant imagine it myself without tahinii although I have heard of a lo-fat version with natural yoghurt instead of tahinii.
