Talking The 2009 "What's hot & what's not" Chilli sauce roundup.

    The 2009 "What's hot & what's not" Chilli sauce roundup @ Hexus

My current fave at the mo is Cholula hot sauce, very mexican tasting, yummy on anything. Otherwise it's a homebrew effort of Reggae Reggae Sauce™ with a shot of Holy Sh!t hot sauce added to pep it up a bit.

Re: The 2009 "What's hot & what's not" Chilli sauce roundup.

I actually grow my own chillis (ranging from hot to worlds hottest) and make my own sauces. However for store bought if you like it extremely hot then z-beyond nothing is good, marie sharps hurtin habanero sauce is very very tasty but not too hot. Perfect for putting a bit over chips before cooking them in the oven.

Here is a very good site for sauces:
    http://www.hotsauceemporium.co.uk/
The guy who runs it is very nice and if you're in bristol he gives free samples of everything at his store.

Informal meeting of minds. Chocolate Habonero, Mushroom, Lemon, many Black varieties, Hot Wax, White Habonero. Lemon Chilli's are my absolute fave & Hot Wax are perfect for the BBQ.

Re: The 2009 "What's hot & what's not" Chilli sauce roundup.

I'm growing 7-pot (absolute monsterwith imo the hottest chillis around), dorset naga, cayenne, cheyenne, apache, scotch bonnet, thai birdseye, prairie fire, demon red, orange hab, mushroom.

I cant get over the 7-pot compared to a store bought dorset naga its so much hotter things might be different when I finally get a ripe dorset from my plants. Next year I will be growing a trinidad scorpian, red savina, and congo trinidad as well.

Bought a bottle of cholula after reading this thread. Its quite nice but its seriously lacking in heat for me. I put it on some chicken and fried potatos and I had to give them a real good soaking before i got any heat. I could drink the bottle. However I do like it as it has got decent flavours.

yeah its not a "hot" sauce - I suppose you coudl kick it up a notch ( bam! ) with some extract but I think you'd be loosing out.

for something with a bit more heat try "the Baron"

    http://www.scorchio.co.uk/baron-blaz...uce-p-360.html

its well priced and packs a real attack of heat.

I just opened a bottle of Dilita Mexican Green Habanero hot sauce this morning. Typical Hab fruityness + heat, but a bit vinegary.

I'm quite partial to using this for cooking, usually in combination with other things as a marinade - Linghams Ginger Garlic and Chilli Sauce. It's not that hot but it tastes great
