If I see things are getting out of hand, or I'm not happy with the way things are being cooked - I'll always take over. I stay away from salads as a rule, especially if they've been sitting out all day. certain things I think you can trust - rice salads etc, which have all ingredients cooked, then chilled. is relatively safe - ditto with potato salad etc. I always make sure I've got some veggies cooking of the bbq, peppers, tomatoes, potatoes, sweetcorn, butternut squash etc... they usually all disappear before the salads do.
I avoid any salad which has any dressing on it, as it's a recipe for disaster. rice salads, potato salads and coleslaw are generally kept in the fridge until real food is ready so I think it's less of an issue.

If I go to a relations, I'm normally 'nominated' to cook... so that's cool. Can't remember the last time I ate a friends barbie.... those sort of things normally take place at mine....

I find I end up not leaving the barbie for hours on end... not cos the food needs constant attention, but purely to stop Zak flipping a sacrificial sausage into the coals...

Anyone who tried to take over the cooking from my Brother-in-law would have ended up on the thing . Mind you when you see the fierce heat being generated, no bugs would survive.

Not really much of a barbecue person.
I can never find a disposable with enough sausages.

"SumEvision" (Who the hell are they) Multi channel PCI Sound card.
Standard 56K Modem that I'll probably never use.
Case with a bit missing but it's only superficial.

there's a difference - I KNOW we can play rugby... and officially - I KNOW we can't play cricket!
Admittedly using the right tools helps but I can teach you guys a thing or two about bbq's!
Favourite is gurnard and the bbq - lovely flavour =- lovely solid flakes - lemon juice, coriander, lime, fresh chili and a splash of beer - just pour over while cooking and it's done in 5 mins! (but you do need a nice cast iron griddle for doing fish like that!)
