    Dissapointment

Just got back from a weeks skiing in Italy.

Good holiday, but the biggest dissapointment was the food. Worst of all was out Hotel. Nice 3star or more job, very nice rooms comfortable all mod cons etc, but the food was just awful. Gala night and they server Champagne rissotto. Now I have cooked this myself one christmas and it is a lovely dish. But at the hotel it was inedible....raw rice for gods sake!!!

Food in some of the other restaurants was a bit better and had one nice meal (Dover Sole). Mind you, I do like the habit of the local bars to have a whole massive Parmesan cheese on the bar with mini digging tools to break off chunks of the nectar. Flavour no doubt enhanced by the countless additions of urine

Wine was also so annoyingly expensive - 43 euros for a nice bottle of Amarone!

My wife and I went to Venice last year and the food there was crap and bloody expensive too. Paris on the other hand was reasonably priced and the food was amazing.

Went to Rome last summer, food-wise I prefer snacks, so had field-days in Italian supermarkets and deli's. Restaurant-wise, due to the hot weather, I stuck to a lot of seafood, with clams being my favourite.
