Green Tea's something you drink when you're out at a company meal and you want to look sophisticated...

Taz: You can add milk to white tea or green tea if you like, but to be honest, these teas are supposed to be infused for a very short time - you'd end up with a kind of milky water!

eloquence - if you like :- ) I drink jasmine tea a lot... I wouldn't say it was only for company meals.

Btw - if you get a chance try Korean teas - these are mainly made of fermented fruits. V good.

Put the kettle on tomorrow then so I can sample your coffee. It will be the first time in months you've made a brew

Columbian is fine, I prefer some of the other ranges from the tesco finest range and found them all extremely nice.

I've found a few of the 'finest' range varies a lot between batches. Often they're not very careful with the roasting and I've had some very bitter coffees.

Im pakastani in origin and as a kid growing up in britian Ive always drunk chai. But I always assumed it was tea.
So all this time ive been making what i thought was tea this way.
Boil water with a teabag in a saucepan usually 3/4 of a cup of water when the tea is infused into the water and its boiling add 1/3 of a cup of milk and let it reach the boil again. Pour into cup and drink with sugar to taste.

Now when I was about 16 - 17 I learnt that english people just put a teabag into a hot water let it infuse then add a drop of milk.. I was kinda shocked.
When I tried it it tasted like chai but just flat and watery..

Chai tastes so .. wholesome and creamy. I only use 1/3 cup of milk and skinny milk at that. My parents use 1/2 cup milk and full milk, and that tastes amazing.
If your a tea drinker possibly try chai. For me its so much more cosy and warm.
Best accompaniment with a hot beverage. Prets lemon and orange muffin with poppy seeds. First time I tried it I put it down and said wow.

I had a fantastic cup of Ginger Chai in India (long story, it was a free trip ) which I've since been unable to match... It was made by a similar process to the one demonwolf describes, I imagine.

To agree with Tim N, I also find that the Tesco Finest coffee varies wildly. Whittards is the best (easily found) place to buy consistently good coffee beans - I'd strongly recommend their Monsooned Malabar if you're ever passing by.

I'd hardly go around supporting whittards - just because their beans are consistant!

I've been to shops where the beans are roasted slightly differently each time you buy them. It's good to have a slightly different taste, or blend! Whittards can't mix you a custom blend like a good old fashioned coffee shop can :- )

I have to say i'm a Tea man myself.

I'll have a nice cup of coffee in the morning... but nothing beats tea... especially if biscuits are involved as well... Maybe you should start another thread on which biscuits people like with their tea?

Tea is my backbone...tea is what makes us English! I have 2 bags in a cup for my morning wake up call...3 sugars and milk. If I have agian during the day I find myself bouncing off walls...so I tend to keep my need for it trained.

As for coffee, I drink it only if about half the mug is full of cream and sugar. That way I enjoy the warm sweet creaminess instead of the coffee

Coffee smells nice, but can't stand the taste. I prefer tea, and some varieties of Chinese tea.

I drink tea, but I love coffee (not the instant stuff, the real stuff) but it's not that keen on me so I have to save it for special occasions.

As for tea, standard PG tips stuff and Earl Grey are my favourites, can't stand that Lapsang Souchong (or however it's spelt) stuff

Just been drinking the sainsburys 'coffee-in-a-bag' stuff that sits over your teacup. Not bad imho, but leaving it for 4-5 minutes over a coffee mug must product tar...
