It's a proven fact that all IT people thrive on coffee. It has got to be strong, black and preferably freshly brewed, ideally it should be a mug sized portion of espresso made from the freshly crushed beans grown on a Jamaican mountain.

Now how do I stop the hand tremors long enough to type?

I have coffee with milk and 6 sugars, but only if I'm drinking triple-strength (wake-up juice)... there are plenty of tea drinkers around, but where Coffee Shops have become fashionable and trendy, tea drinking still has a working-class association... not that it should put people off drinking tea, but that's just the way it goes.

Eh? I always associate coffee as being working class, and posh tea drinkers having tea cups and saucers etc.

I don't see a class distinction between the two. Well, depending on what you drink.

I hold a personal distaste of anything instant. It's goddamn nasty.

You can drink loose leaf = posh/snobbish
teabags = just normal busy people.

Is anybody into healthy teas - such as Green Teas etc? Only tried Tesco's own Green Tea. Expensive, weak with an odd taste. But is it better for you?

Nearly bought Green Tea from Sainsbury's a couple of days ago. I also want to know if it's really good for you. I imagine it to taste disgusting so I don't really want to drink it unless there is a substantial health benefit as I consider it a medicine!

Interestingly, Sainsbury's had a 'Mint and Green tea' variant which I guess goes some way to improve the taste.

AFAIK, green tea is rich in antioxidants which generally improve the health of cells in your body which in theory may improve your protection against cancer and slow down ageing. However, I don't know if any of this has been proven by drinking green tea.

    tea, but occaisional coffee.

Yorkshire tea is best, made in a cup, leave to brew for at least 3 minutes, pref 5. Small amount of milk. A nice suntanned colour.

    And nice digestives to boot.
Thats an idea for another thread, whats the best biscuit to have with tea.

As for the comments on the green tea,

green teas vary in taste a lot but are good for anti-oxidants.

If you can't drink green teas, try pai-mu-tan - it's a white tea. Same (if not more) benefits as green tea, no caffeine AND tastes like tea. w00h00!

Tim N: I want to get into Green Tea but I have never been able to drink tea without milk. Is adding milk to Green tea a criminal offence or is it okay if I do it in private?

I honestly cannot stand the taste of tea without a large dollop of milk.
