I like to grill them too. Having said that, roasting is a winner if you have time. Don't forget that if it's a quality sausage there is no need to prick the skin prior to cooking!

Whilst we're on the topic, has anyone tried the Waitrose Boston Chilli sausage (something like that anyway)? One of my personal faves...

I'm a bit of a fan of organic sausages from local orgranic farms - they're just a class above the supermarkets... I'm a grill/barby bloke cooking wise.

Are you joking? Yuk, thats very wrong if you ask me. No offence, but are you a student? Quality meat all the way, none of this pig's lips and cow nobs for me. Nasty imported cheap meat, no thanks. Get down the buchers and get some proper bangers. Then cook them in an oven on a lowish heat 140-170 for around 30 mins (or so says my chef mates, and i have to agree thats the best way. And don't prick them. Damn tasty).

Then mash some nice spuds with freshly chopped chives and Philidelpea cream cheese. Finish of with some nice steamed leeks and onion gravey with marmite and crambery jam in (i'm not joking, sounds silly but really very good). Not a very expensive meal and so so tasty. Yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuummmmm

Have to agree with some of the other posts.

Always buy sausages from local butcher and then cook them with the Foreman grill. Their may be better ways to cook them. But with good sausages hardly any fat comes out of them.

always fry, in some nice groundnut oil, pref with a few slices of onions.

One other thing, never ever prick. and leave for a few minutes after cooking before eating

Science plays a big part , but its often the little things you never notice untill you try them.

I like that show on bbc2 that does science and cooking. Then again anything with food in it is good by me.

I'd always avoid grilling purely in terms of flavour. Frying sausages slowly gives a better end result as they cook in their own juices (which would drip/burn off under a grill) and the skin caramelises slightly giving a really good taste. Grilling tends to dry them out too much. I cover my frying pan whilst cooking which makes sure that thick sausages cook through and stops them going dry or burning.
