    Post Which Ram?

    hi again,

I was looking @ getting 2x 2gb's of pc2-6400 ram but i dont know which to get. I found this ram which looks & sounds good:

(sry i cant use url) its on komplett . ie its OCZ Gold XTC DDR2 PC6400 4096MB KIT and it has
CL5 ( 5-5-5-18 ) latency timings, which i dunno if its gd or bad

I was also looking @ this ram:

(again cant url) its on crucial and its unbranded 2gb ram

the second lot ends up being more expensive than the first due to it using the VAT rate in Ireland which is 21.5% + shipping of €7. This ends up costing €58 compared to €47 if it was to the UK.

So basically is the OCZ Gold XTC DDR2 PC6400 4096MB KIT (which is cheaper) better than the unbranded 2gb ram from crucial which is unbranded?

    Re: Which Ram?

The Crucial link doesn't work, but not only is the OCZ cheaper, it's double the ammount, has heatspreaders and alright timings, I'd get them when they're in stock

    It's 4.98*

@ Sputnik, he can't use ebuyer, well he could, but the shipping outweighs the savings

exactly, same goes with crucial website. Its a pity the shipping is so much as the uk vat rate is excellent compared to here.

Thanks to both of ye for ye're help anyway!

I was looking @ orcalogic.co.uk as well as shipping is only €1.04 but it doesnt show the ram latency.

    Re: Which Ram?

if you use an intel pc then ram latency makes no difference to performance. it makes a tiny difference on amd setups.
