RAM Stops my iMac Booting up!

    Hey Guys,

I've had an iMac for 4 years now, back when I first bought it I also purchased a second stick of Crucial RAM. Everything had been good until the last few months when I suddenly started to encounter problems. At first these seemed like no big deal and I just got on with it but after several months of these problems (Not waking up from Sleep mode, Hit-or-Miss booting up, freezing when booting up) I decided enough was enough and something needed to be done about it. I'm not sure what made me think that it could be a RAM problem but since I have removed my additional stick of RAM from the iMac the problems are no longer here.

After reading a few different threads on these boards I noticed that people mentioned returning RAM to have it repaired/replaced under warranty and I just wanted to know if my RAM would be eligible for this? The RAM I have is: Crucial 1GB DDR2 667 C5, I still have my original receipt and box that the RAM was shipped to me in.

If anyone is able to hep me it would be much appreciated because I use my iMac for a lot of Photo editing in PS and Aperture so going back to 1GB of RAM is killing me.

    Thanks,
    /Rookie

Some RAM has a lifetime warranty. I would go onto the manufacturer's website and issue an RMA, with your serials/proof of purchase. Most reputable companies have a decent RMA system now, to keep up with the competitors.

I've never known RAM to have anything less than a 10 yr warranty, and I think Crucial have a limited lifetime warranty, so you're almost certainly fine.
