I've been wondering what the downsides to value RAM really are. Assuming you're not planning on overclocking and have good system temps is there really any benefit to premium ram over value? For example this from aria is incredibly cheap (not that I'd like to purchase from aria) https://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials...roductId=51963 (and yes I know it's 1333)
I doubt they'll last long.
Plus I cant really think of many situations where 16GB of 1333MHz RAM would be optimal...

I have an h67 intel board that is limited to 1333 so would probably suit that just fine, as it happens speaking of 'optimal' there's really not much difference in ram performance from the tests I've been looking at, that article about scaling posted in your other thread showed little change between 1066 + 1600!
Generic RAMs an odd one. I think of all generic components RAM is the one I'd most likely go for. The issue at the minute is the savings are minimal compared to branded value RAM, and there's something comforting about having a big-name manufacturer behind a product.
It's also worth noting that that RAM is on an Aria SuperSpecial, so it's 1 set per customer, web only, and you have to pay for delivery. Normal price is £65, which isn't so special.
It seems the RAM is made by Micron.
Value RAM is great. It still usually has a decent length warranty, if not overclocking or doing anything vague mission critical then I'd go for it.
Uses micron IC's which are the same as used by Crucial. (Micron own Crucial) So should be better quality than lesser brand value memory.
Whats that old saying? You get what you pay for. Mind you, that doesn't always work out that way.
Value RAM should be OK. Just make sure the warranty is good.
Should be just fine. You pay for the warranty and peace of mind (as well as the looks) when it comes to RAM. If you don't care about the looks, and trust in the manufacturer then all is good.
have sold tons of it in new builds never had one come back because of ram though i wouldnt personaly use it in a games machine or something thats on 24/7.
Tbh decent ram is imo worth the extra if your gonna push the system, 90% of what we sell tends to be used to acces facebook etc etc so vaule ram ok, for any gamming machines we build we only use decent ram, why pay over a grand and save 20-40 quid on cheap ram stablity is worth a tad more.
Never quite understood why Intel feel the need to disable ECC ram in their mainline processors. If your ram chip gets hit by a cosmic/gamma ray particle then a bit will get flipped and whilst buying quality ram may improve the longevity and warranty support it doesn't stop this occasional data corruption. At the moment ECC ram means either an AMD AM3+ system, or with Intel I believe it means stumping up for a Xeon and the expensive motherboard to take it.
I am using some value ram and it has never given me any problems and even overclocks quite handily (stable at 1500mhz, haven't tried higher).
Aria have this with free delivery now instead of super special.
What's wrong with Aria btw? I've used them before and while I did have problems they accepted my RMA without problem and gave me free delivery to make up for it being a couple of days late.
To me it is quite reassuring to know that they deal with such issues so well.
My brother has used them a few times with no issues whatsoever.

ALways run Memtest on the board and ram before installing Windows and you're fine
