    Re: Thinking of going itx

The Zotac h67 board is probably worth looking at http://www.scan.co.uk/products/zotac...-board-wifi-mi bit more expensive but they do tend to be very good.
    http://www.zotac.com/index.php?optio...100153&lang=en

But I'd agree with CAT ask on a forum where people have more experience esp with this actual case and tring to fit stuff into it.

I just had a look at the ITX2 build on this website and can see the issue mentioned:

    http://my.opera.com/nagynorbert/albu...dml?id=7784752

It looks like low profile RAM won't help:

    http://my.opera.com/nagynorbert/albu...ture=115612502

Looking at this article,it seems the Asus P8H67-I will be OK, and the Zotac H67ITX Pob mentioned as the RAM slots are not at the edge and the front panel connector probably won't be obstructed.

Also, you need to be careful and choose a DC-DC PSU which is not too tall:

Umm cat . . . that's a J&W Mini ITX 785G-SP128MB ie AM3 and uses SODIMM's, not DIMM's which the low profile kingston ram is.

Short SODIMM's are hard to find.

However that series of photos does give a very good impression as to how tight any build will be inside that case.

I was looking at the amount of space the front connector needs. The motherboards I mentioned have the RAM slots not on the edge of the motherboard and looking at the location of the front connector there is no obstruction in that area.

If you look at this picture you can see the rough location of the connector and how far it protrudes into the case:

    http://files.myopera.com/nagynorbert...2/DSC03863.JPG

Take notice of the mounting hole at the top.

Now look at the Asus and Zotac motherboards:

    http://www.xbitlabs.com/cms/include/...pect=0&format=

    http://www.silentpcreview.com/files/...-h67itx/03.jpg

The connector will be a tight fit but if RAM without heatsinks is used it should be fine.

    Re: Thinking of going itx

    Still confused guys.

Right, i want that case,(Wesena Mini ITX2 Case) a 160w Pico PSU, Just got to sort out the Motherboard, ram and CPU.

The i3 would be fine so that is sorted. Intel CPU i3 2100T

Motherboard? I wont be overclocking but need onboard graphics. This one ok:

    Asus P8H61-I Intel H61 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard

What mobo, cheap as possible will work with above CPU and fit ok in the case? Ram? Need 8gig, not expensive.

I also need a slot loading dvdrw

I will buy a 2.5 HD. Will get Samsung or WD 5400rpm one for now

Just need models i should buy now.

    Re: Thinking of going itx

Couple of things to note about the Pico PSUs..

The AC-DC converters usually have a small fan in them, although I have never heard the one I use come on!

The second one is that the DC-DC end that plugs into the mobo does run quite hot, and the application note recommends some form of forced air cooling if you are using them at or near their maximum power rating.

You don't need a specific fan for it, but you need to consider the airflow through the case. A lot if the mini ITX cases have a small (40mm) chasis fan which should provide sufficient cooling, provided you take care over sir flow.

AVForums seems to have a Wesena representative so like I said it is worth checking over there too!

That Asus motherboard should do the job. Not all H61 motherboards support ACHI AFAIK but this is more important for SSDs.

    I would get this RAM:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/8gb-%...unbuffered-cl9

1333MHZ or 1600MHZ DDR3 RAM without heatsinks and a standard or lower profile is what I would look for.

At least from what I have looked at,it seems OK. However, just be prepared to have a play around with that front connector just in case(may need to bend the wire a bit).

The Zotac is the one Pob mentioned and the Asus is the H61 version of the one I mentioned. These both seem to have the slightly recessed RAM slots.

I would also be careful what picoPSU you are using:

Is the cheaper of the 2. Looks like a nice board. It does come with onboard graphics?

The case is a Lian Li Q07. However, the important part is this image:
    http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DcGfolc-H5...25282%2529.jpg

With normal RAM,the picoPSU used is nearly touching the memory modules on the DIMM.

The CPU has the IGP in it and the motherboard only has the wiring and connectors for the display outputs.
