Question Dual Channel Config - Asus 990FX

    Hi there.

I'm a tad confused with the bank configuration for Dual Channel - For the Asus Sabertooth 990FX

    I have 2 sticks of Corsair 2x 4GB DDR 3 1600mhz Vengance

The manual Recomends Bank A2 and B2 - However, from digging around people are saying it does not quite matter.... which i am questioning and have doubt about.

The point of why i am asking, is due to some case modding, the last bank misses a part of the 5.1/2" bay line by about 1mm, which doesn't give much room for any case movment, if such happens due to moving it. I don't particaully wish to be that destructive to the case, if i can help it.

    Thanks and Regards

I don't know if I fully understood what you are trying to do with the case, however I get the impression that modding your case will leave one slot as either unusable or the ram will be so close to the edge of the modded case that movement might cause damage. In either case you can use both the black slots or both of the brown slots, just pair up according to which is least likely to be affected by the case mod.
