    Asus Z170 3D Prints

    Hello,

I bought 1 year ago the Z170 Aura Gaming Mainboard from Asus. Now i have the ability to 3d print stuff. The problem only is that asus killed the project (at least for the old mainboards)
Especially I'm looking for this one I found on hexus.net:
    /media/uploaded/2016/7/869a7f20-3068-4cf4-ab55-2397993f60f2.jpg or
    /media/uploaded/2016/9/c9abd11f-fdbc-488e-9ca6-7f3c1fd8052e.jpg
(heng hexus.net on cause I'm not allowed to post liks yet)

There has to be a model for the bottom I/O panel of the mainboard. Someone know where I can find it?

    Thank you,
    GoGoWe

    Re: Asus Z170 3D Prints

Umm they are still available on the website
    https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Z1...A/3D-Printing/

if you mean the large bit that's covering the bottom of the board in this image http://hexus.net/media/uploaded/2016...97993f60f2.jpg
After a bit of digging, looks like it was a prototype but asus never released the 3d model.
A finished example part was sent out with the review board and some reviews just used stock photos sent them by Asus

You might be scuppered, unless you make a new 3d model yourself or find someone who will make one for you.

edit: just found the kitguru review https://www.kitguru.net/components/m...oard-review/3/ they show the cover broken down into it's parts, so looks like Asus sent out the bits with the review board but never released the model.

Edit2: looks like the prototype was on the asus rog forum but was pulled. asking on the rog forum is probably your best bet

    Yes but,
    1. Some of the models are bad exports and can't be printed
    2. I especially looking for the bottom I/O cover of the mainboard (see pictures)

    Re: Asus Z170 3D Prints

Yes, I did some research on my own 2-3 months ago.
And found a thread on the Asus rog forum but like you say, they removed the model.
I asked there and no one answered.

I hope I could find some help here because on hexus.net there are two articles about the mobo 3d prints (see links)
There should be a model for this because hexus had a custom one (with their logo on it)
I think I will give it a try and make one on my own.

and Kitguru had one with kitguru on it, which leads me to think that Asus included these custom made parts in the review pack they sent to different outlets and never supplies the outlets with the 3d models.
And the whole thing seems a bit disingenuous of Asus, give review sites custom parts "that anyone could 3d print" but then never make them available.

You could try a direct contact of the reviewer to see if he ever had the 3d model files http://hexus.net/contact_author/96166/

I printed a couple for a friend. I had to import them into some random modelling software that recognised the file extension and then exported them as .stl for my slicing app.
