    Flashing msi motherboard

I have an msi b550 gaming edge WiFi, does anyone have any experience with flashing this one to upgrade to ryzen 5000 series?

    Re: Flashing msi motherboard

b550 should support 5000 series out of the box, it's only the b450 that need a "beta" bios update for 5000 series.
Basically the issue they've hit is that amd is supporting too many cpu's on their chipsets, each cpu needs a data entry on a setting table in the bios and the list has got too large to support all the models and still fit on the bios chip.
so what they've done is to drop support for older ryzens from newer chipsets, so the b450 supports the 1000, 2000 and 3000 ryzen's, if you update to the beta bios for 5000 support you lose 2000 and 1000 support.
like wise the b550 only supports 3000 and 5000 (in theory you could have a down graded beta bios that supported 1000 and 2000 on it but then you'd lose 5000 and maybe some 3000, but no one has made one)

yes the b550 will support the 5000 series out of the box, you might want to update the bios
MSI has a video on how to do it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRyFMf0D9Lc
