Just to let you know that I was an avid viewer of Storybook international in the early 80's. Although I seem to remember that the overdubbing was extremely bad!

The original vocalist on the British version was Ralph McTell (or so I believe). The original vocals were a lot deeper and had a folkey twinge to them. The vocalist on the version linked to above seems to be american. But great to hear that song again and see that intro! (I had forgotten the words to the second verse)

A rather late reply to a topic posted a few years ago.. nevertheless, I too wanted to drop my penny in the plate as I was captivated by this program :-) I was about 5 or 6 at the time but as far a I can rememer, the lyrics were something like this :

"I'm a story teller, and my stories must be told...
I have many stories, tales for both the young an old...
I have many voices to describe many places, many names have I, and many faces...
In Russia I am Ivan, in Sweden I am Jon...
In Germany I'm Johan, in America I'm John...
From my many travels I have gathered these tales...
To teach good sense, where all else fails...
Sometimes there are tears, sometimes there is laughter...
But always, a happily ever after..."

I stand correct on the names but I'm certain this is pretty damn close... :-)

Re: Who has heard of "The Storyteller" TV series?

I'm afraid marko32 is unlikely to reply, given that was their only post and they made it more than 8 years ago!

However, I'm sure the Hexus family will do their best to come up with something to fit the bill.

Personally, I loved The Storyteller (I must've been in my early teens when it first ran in the UK) - great show.

Also, I have no idea why this thread was buried in Consumer Electronics! Here it is, restored to a more appropriate area of the boards, and I think a topic well worth reviving - anyone else remember the storyteller fondly, or has found anything else like it?

Ah! The storyteller was amazing. I loved it. It was on on Saturday evening before bay watch, when I was younger Saturday tv was actually good lol. Every now and then I remember it and have to look it up on YouTube :-) I've never come across anything else quite like the storyteller though.
