    War of The Worlds

The special effects & Tripod Robots looked amazing but it was quite disappointing the fact that the story was mainly focused on Tom Cruise & his kids, rather than the invasion it self.

Also it didn't make sense that the tripods were buried in the ground for million of years. They should have come charging from the sky inside asteroids like the original.
Its hard to believe that people never came across to something that huge, when digging to build their cities.

It never refers to Mars as their place of origin. It simply says that they were planning this for a long time...

I loved the part when the flaming train passes fast in front of the horrid citizens in that small town.
Reminded me of Metal Slug 2, Gun Force 2 or Contra

But... about in the middle of the movie... it was nerve aching when the soldiers & tanks where charging up hill & the F-22s & Apaches shooting rockets, but it never actually shows what they were firing at.
Instead Tom Cruise is trying to stop his retarded son from following the soldiers into battle...
It was shocking that he managed to survive in the end too!

The so called drama experience Spielberg is trying to spit out throughout the movie, was hilarious imo.

The old classic 'War of The Worlds Movie" was much better than this imo.

Wasn't there supposed to be another 2 "War of The Worlds" movies coming out?
One was supposed to be a JPN Anime... I think?

    <rant over> heh

I thought it was a good film but they should have put more time in the battles. The end part of the film sort of popped up without a warning.

    Cheers for that info

I'll wait till this appears on DVD if its not as good as the olde version that I have just got on DVD as well.

A few friends have never seen the old version so Sunday night I rigged up PC and we watched it. Most of them enjoyed it and for next weeks retro-film session we are watching "young frankenstien"

The best experience is to get a copy of the radio version and sit and listen, much more drama.

Hollywood will always look to spoil a classic a) for $$$$ and b) the dumbass American public.

    Cool

    wow! what a fantastic movie

shame it wasnt set in England, London etc, would ahve been much more disturbing to see the aliens take down big ben like in the book (set in england)

one problem i could find which applies to almost everyone Alien Invader movie ever made is that they didnt tell you enough about what was happening in the rest of the world (they do it a little in indepence day, not nearly enough though)

although i guess it might be a tad hard to present the news of all the world and what is going on in the different countries.......we will have to wait and see if a director can present this well

i really hope 1984 gets a hollywood make over - that would be incredible i think

overall, great film......little too much attempted dramatisation, still good

should not have a 12A though

    8/10

Thought it was utter @*!%$ tbh. Relied on loud noises & special effects far too much, I wanted to MURDER tom cruises daughter and as everyones allready mentioned wasn't true enough to the book. A typical spielberg 'masterpiece' ie: not one at all.

That would've been great, set in the late 1800's too...

OMG, no way, i've heard of poetic license but this is taking it too far. Everyone knows the F-22 won't carry rockets, pah, I ain't seeing this...

they'd have to give it a typical Hollywood "happy ever after" ending.... (besides - the other version that the Eurythmics did the soundtrack for was rather good )
