SG-1 : series 10 : Just about to get our arses handed back to us on a platter by the Ori led by their creepy new leader.
Atlantis : Season 3 : Just about to open can's of whoop-ass and retrovirii on the wraith
SG1 is now on season 10, Atlantis is on 3.
wish i had broadband, sorry i mean sky
OK i may not have broadband but amazon has been feeding my inner sci fi geek, just finished season 9 of stargate, can't wait for season 10 now, hopefully i can get sky at uni. Not sure if anyon'es heard but season 10 will be the last for stargate, at least if tv.com is correct. I think there will be a 4th series of atlantis though. I suppose they can't really top the ori for bad guys so they will have to leave it at that.
Sounds like it - Though Season 10 hasn't been as good thus far as the others.
Atlantis is not bad - but they need to stop running and start doing some fighting
The common formula seems to be that the good guys run and get their asses handed to them until the last episode, why else would we watch

Nah the usual stargate formula is as follows ;
At least 5 episodes of the Series on a whole are about "character development" and putting them in bizarre circumstances ( Val's mind wipe + Wier's nanobot problem )
Then theres the odd 1 or 2 within a series which can only be put in the "bizarre" section (200 and the "groundhog day clone" epsiode for an example)
After this we have the usual episodes of GREAT UBER ASS-KICKING action where they action in these is much more than usual and this is usually held for "cliffhanger" episodes at the end of series or when seasons are split 1/2 way through.
I rekon they started to go a bit downhill when they started to take on Ben Bowder/Browders' suggestions on. Dont get me wrong I loved Farscape, reminded me a lot of Buck Rodgers, with a more mature storyline and developed characters, and the episodes he did direct were excelent, but that was only because he knew the charecters so well. I was half expecting to see Rigel and that Luxan guy in it as well. If the the Star Wars series carries the same quality as SG we shouild be in for a treat !
well we are half way through season 10 of SG1 and 3 of atlantis now...and guess what - i've been proved right about SG1 - IT's BEEN CANCELLED! [note my earlier post when i predicted this ]
Thats right this is the last series of SG1..all the money is being poured in to Atlantis now.
6 months ago I would have thought this a terrible idea, but SG1 as a series has been dieing since RDA left, and while season 10 is definitely more fun to watch than season 9 was (more baal action ), its still boring in comparison to the old series.
Atlantis on the other hand, has gone from strength to strength...I disliked the first 2 seasons, but season 3 is actually really good..so I think it was the right choice to make (cancelling SG1 and focussing on atlantis)
Just a shame we have to wait until the new year for the second half of the new seasons..
do you mean that Sci-Fi failed to pick up on a season 11 (old news) or that the producers have given up all hope of finding another channel to take it on?
2 films have been OK'ed though by MGM.
& in other news the 3rd series of BSG has seen a 30.8% drop in ratings on Sci-Fi in the US ...
Mind you I also know people that are predicting that the Sci-Fi Channel in the US will be dead in a year or so ..
afaik the producers have given up hope of finding a new network to take it..theres rumours of another fan based project similar to the one that started for Enterprise though..so we'll see.
The current storyline lends itself to switching over to atlantis though..and a couple of films/feature length eps would also work nicely
Im all for atlantis, sg1 has been goign for a long time, a good refresh, i enjoyed the first series and think it could be good. More fils would aslo be good.
Hopefully this will mean that the stargate series on dvd will go on sale!!!

Sci-Fi kill everything they get there hands on..
Babylon5 and spin offs.
Space Above & Beyond
Stargate
Sci-Fi have cancelled it but its apprently not the end of SG1, guess theres hope that another network will pick up the show.
