B5's final seasons were on TNT weren't they? And they kept it going to the end of the planned 5 seasons. The B5 spin-off was excruciatingly bad and deserved to die.

Sci-Fi has been pretty good to Stargate, and it's a good idea to concentrate on Atlantis, which has a chance of some staying power if they keep away from braindead 'all that outer-space stuff was just a delusion and you're actually in a psychiatric hospital' junk - I'm looking at you Carl Binder. Certainly SG-1 season 10 picked up a lot from season 9, but all shows have their life-span. I'd far rather see SG-1 go out now before it turns into a zombie like NYPD Blue has.

Sci-Fi have cancelled it but its apprently not the end of SG1, guess theres hope that another network will pick up the show.
Rumour has it they are planning 3 "TV mini-films" of SG-1 to wrap quite a bit of it up.

Atlantis is still going to be ongoing which I think is a shame as SG-1 IMO was much better than Atlantis although Atlantis is starting to get a bit better now.

update for all you lovely SG-1 fans

Season 10 is going to be the final "series" as such for SG-1 and they have now got the go ahead for 2 straight to DVD movies which are going to tie up all the loose ends regarding the Ori and season 10.

SG Atlantis will be carried on and they are looking at launching a spin-off from the 2 straight to DVD movie episodes.

Wright is signed to write the 2nd of these films and apparently it will involve time travel ( cue Back to the future - Stargate Style )

More information can be found Here

I wonder what the spin-off would be? Are we going to see more of the ancients, az'guard or go'uald in this?

Yeap - Stargate the next generation coming soon

I can't see a problem if the 'spin-off' is as good as SG-1 was and if they base it on the Tok'ra then it could be a good idea, but I've a feeling it's not going to be the above and we'll end up with some second rate show instead.

Want to know what's to blame for the cancellation? Sci-fi said nobody is watching it and are watching wrestling on Sci-fi afterwards instead.

What's the world coming too when 1 of the best ( imo ) Sci-fi shows ever show is cancelled due to a bunch of meatheads fondeling each other while wearing day-glo spandex.

That be the Americans for you

I'm not suprised Season 10 was the last, most of the plot lines have been done to death, no-one ever dies (out of SG1 anyhow) and so it's kinda predictable what is going to happen

I think now is a pretty good time to end SG-1, this whole Ori thing is a little bit silly IMO. They have to keep looking for bigger badder villains and there's only so powerful the bad guys can get.

Still loving Atlantis though, McKay makes that show.

As for B5, they carried on and did 5 seasons, but due to the threat of cancellation, JMS rushed the story so that the main thread was finished at the end of season 4. So basically season 5 was a huge anticlimax.

Crusade wasn't that bad, I'd have liked to know how it ended, the Apocalypse box was intriguing. 'Legend of the rangers' was just appalling though.

Apparently there's talks of finishing off SG1 in a few TV movies (3), well from what I read they finish the Ori arc in 2 and then a third opens another spin off.
Crusade could of been good, watched as many as they did but wtf is it with people cancelling shows part way thru a bloody season, at least finish the damned things off, Threshold wasnt bad, Invasion could of gone further, S:AAB was bloody brill but got canned in the typical Fox style...

One of the things I hate about living over here. Some really good shows are already cancelled by the time we get to see them.
