I have a CS:S server rented for another 6 months but the compnay (sibeservers) has gone bust and the guy has done a runner with debts to his hosts and to his users.
I have his address and his phone number but he has cut his phone off today (it was ringing yesterday)
Its not a lot of money but thats not the point. What can I do at this point to get the money back? Who do I contact?

if it isn't a ltd company, i dont think there is anything you can do
you could always go to his address and demand the money

Probably nothing. If he (or the company) has gone into receivership, you can register a claim with the receiver. If you paid by credit card, you may have a claim with the credit card company. Small claims court would be an option, but even if you win, there is no gurantee he would pay up. Seek qualified legal advice i(or a CAB) f you really want to take it further - but it if it is only a small amount, it probably (annoying though the thought is) isn'nt worth the time and hassle.

yes, its bad that people can get away with this. He simply took the money didn't pay the bills and did a runner.

Yep pretty much 0, worked for a company that went bust and lost a month's pay. pretty much nothing you can do, even if there is money left in the business you are looking at maybe a few pence in the pound back.

As everyone else has said, there's not a lot you can do. Just have to put it down to experience, perhaps next time put money into a company thats got more of a standing even if it does cost a few quid more that way its unlikely something like this will happen again etc.

To be honest I would NEVER do this with anything that was important but as it was only a game server I though what the hell, i'll just hope for the best.

Even that might not work!
My club's IT chap had to cut up his card and cancel it - the hosting company went bust or something (can't recall now) but kept taking payments.
Fortunately the club covered the loss.

How much you lose? Small claims against the person for failing to deliver services rendered - issue is you need a copy of a contract...
