    I have been capped

    Getting max 15KB/s on all downloads, same goes to everyone in the house. Broadband is BT, should I call them up?

    I'd give them a call to test the line, but if your a high bandwidth user you've no chance other than stopping you're activaties. Normal capping is 6pm until 1am they don't cap all day. So if its happening all day you have an issue.

    I was once capped due to high use (Hotel) I called them up and they said they would not take us off for 3 months!

    I did, got SDSL. The problem was we had the ADSL before they where capping people, they then changed the Ts & Cs and we where instantly capped.

    BT caps heavy users between 6pm and midnight. It should be fine the rest of the day, it is for me. If not then give them a call, because apart from that BT are pretty lax in enforcing bandwidth policies, could be a problem on the connection.

    Official policy is unless you go significantly over your limit month after month they'll take no action apart from throttling at prime time, which is done automatically (got a letter about this last year cant find a link though sorry).

    Yep we have been capped, phoned up yesterday (20 minutes on my mobile ) woman said "there seems to be a restriction on your line" tried to do a line test, did not finish after 5 minutes so I hang up.

    If they are doing a line test, it sounds as if there is a technical problem, rather than a deliberate application of throttling.

    just switch to o2 you will feel much better when you're paying only £7.50/month and no caps

    ...assuming the customer has exceeded the minimum contract term or otherwise doesn't object to paying the equivalent cost of the remaining term to acquire a MAC, then pay an alernative provider for another service, in which case effectively means the customer would be paying twice for the same period.
