    Managed switch?

I have 2 internets on my home network

for WAN traffic, I would like some computers use router#1, and other computers use router#2.

this is not load balancing or fail-over. i just want certain computers to use certain routers all the time.

i would like to manage this from a managed switch by specifying which IPs should use which router.

but i still want them all on the same subnet so they can talk to each other within the LAN.

    is that possible?

    Re: Managed switch?

That's not what managed switches are for. What you're after is very simple.

Set one router to have the IP address as: 192.168.0.1
Set one router to have the IP address as: 192.168.0.254

Set the default gateway for each host to one of the above.

All hosts on the network will be able to see each other, and traffic will be routed appropriately.

    Edit: Oooh 1000 posts....

    oh okay thanks

    but, one question:
"Set the default gateway for each host to one of the above."
What is the host you are speaking of?

p.s. congrats on your 1000 posts

    Re: Managed switch?

    in other words...

    ADSL 1 = 192.168.1.1
    ADSL 2 = 192.168.1.2

    PC1 - 2 - 3 - 4 have a default gateway of 192.168.1.1

    PC5 - 6 - 7 - 8 have a default gateway of 192.168.1.2

All are on the same subnet but just go to a different router for internet connection.

Host is the technically correct term for a computer - it is "hosting" applications. It is mainly used in a networking context. (not immediately or intuitively obvious )
