    Broadband data montly calculation?

does anyone know if the amount of data download 'limit' in a month from an isp e.g talktalk which is 40gb permonth, is calculated on the day of your contract or from the 1st to the 31st of each month.

e.g if your broadband contract started on the 15th of a month is your monthly limit then calculated each month there after from the 15th to the 15th.

    or

does it revert always to the 1st to the 31st of each month.

    hope that makes sense

It would vary between ISP, but it would be a fair assumption that the vast majority of ISPs will use pre-written software that performs traffic accounting by the calendar, rather than the starting day of your contract. Otherwise they'd have to purchase expensive propitiatory software just to niggle over accounting fallover periods which they'd only have to concern themselves over with the first month of the contract. But to be sure, you can always email their tech. support and ask them for confirmation.

I feel your pain. But you could ask them to forward the request onto their real network engineers for a proper answer.

    Re: Broadband data montly calculation?

Plus.net which also have a limit on peak time downloads calculate my usage from the date of the contract ... No by calendar month.

Doesnt the ISP offer an account control panel of some sort for these purposes ?
