    Attack site safeguard from google???

    Hi all.

Using Firefox 3.0 as my browser.

Reasonably experienced that I am, I have never seen this before. At a well known ahem, grown up site for torrents, of which I am a member, I went to the home page to log in and got this:

    "Reported Attack Site!

This web site at xxxx.us has been reported as an attack site and has been blocked based on your security preferences.

Attack sites try to install programs that steal private information, use your computer to attack others, or damage your system.

Some attack sites intentionally distribute harmful software, but many are compromised without the knowledge or permission of their owners."

This is all displayed in a red box with two choices in it, to 'get me out of here' and 'why was this website blocked'.

The second choice takes you to a google page explaining it.

Anyone else had this lately or before?

I don't recall asking Google to vet my choice of sites. So I am suspicious.

And looking at a local government jobsite, having joined to search for jobs, when I went to log in I got an 'unverified security cert warning'. This was a Firefox thing too. Never had that before either. Been using v3.0 since it came out, and this is the first time I have seen these two events.

Ran Adaware and AVG free scans immediately, nothing came up.

    Thoughts anyone?

    Thanks

Ha ha! sounds a tad illegal that whole being a member of a torrent site thing, even pron has copyrights.

sounds like you need to change your firefox settings or stop looking at dodgy pron...

    Indeed you may be right

I would just like to emphasise I don't condone illegal file sharing however, and the site in question is not solely devoted to that activity.

And in 2008 I reserve my right to watch pron with my girl.

Really more concerned on if I have picked up a particularly new bit of malware. I am checking my FF settings, but have done once already. Cheers for that anyway.

Re: Attack site safeguard from google???

Those are both firefox security features. Then can be disabled from the firefox options menu. Though I really wouldn't recommend it.

The first, is based on a blacklist of sites, sites are reported as spreading virus/trojans/STD's or other nasties and are added to the blacklist, I'm sure some legit sites get put on in error, but in the case of a torrent site I would highly doubt it. Even if the owners of the site aren't directly responsible.

The second http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transport_Layer_Security is explained at length here, but the short version is; Either the people running the site are incompetent *cough*local government*cough* or you're not on the site you think you're on.

Sounds like the kind of night to treat a lady to... dinner and dancing followed by a couple of hours of HARDCORE PRON!!!!! where she'd likely be watching a young lass getting "serviced" by a man with an extremely large appendage... could leave you feeling a bit inadequate. Each to their own I guess

Re: Attack site safeguard from google???

Indeed you are both right chaps, FF does have the options, and I missed them first time round. Thanks for the help.

And Zadock, who said anything about dinner and dancing? My girl likes to pick the pron we watch. As you say, each to their own.

I've found a girl that shares my love of footy, music and pron. Yeah it's a real nightmare going out with her I can tell you . But someones gotta do it.... :-)
