    Broadband for my mum.

As per title, my dear ol' mum is looking to save money on her broadband, as she is currently on the rather pricey Plus.net service, which costs £21.99 a month for 8meg unlimited.
Now that my siblings and I have flown the nest, she doesn't need such a fast (or expensive service).
Ideally, the new line should be
    ~£12 a month,
high usage or unlimited.( 40GB + if not unlimited)
    Reliable.

Unfortunately, BeThere is not available in this area, nor then, obviously, is O2.
Virgin Media and other cable services are unavailable too.
Sky's normal service is not available either.

    So, any recommendations?

    Thanks.

    Re: Broadband for my mum.

I whacked my Granddad on the virgin 8MB - £9.99/month ADSL deal over a year ago now and zero complaints from him about downtime or speeds. Seems to have crept upto £12/month now. Tiscali do an all in including line rental for £15/month and noticed TalkTalk advertising their £6.49 all in deal again. Pays ya money, ya takes ya chioce.

    LOL at that linky!

Sorry, she's in Oban, West Coast of Scotland.
I check the samknows website already, it told me that all was available was the BT ADSL and ADSL Max services.

    Re: Broadband for my mum.

Does your mum really need 40GB or Unlimited? Short answer is, if she does then its hardly worth your time switching (As no LLU services are available in your area) The only other option would be O2 'Access' which is cheaper if your with O2.

I'm currently at uni, and thus not home half the time, so when i'm not home i simply switch down to Plus.net's £9.75 2GB Service for my parents , and when i come home, back up to the £19.55 30GB . (guess its worth noting that your current service is no longer offered, as well).
Worth noting is the inbetween £14.65 service with 15GB.

Both those come with unlimited usage overnight, and can be changed/upgraded pretty much instantly. (They also revert to 128kbit once you've used all your allowance, they don't cut you off)

You can check https://portal.plus.net/view_my_broa...sage/index.php your historic usage here, to see what your mum has actually been downloading.
