    hi all

i just got three of these to extende the signal from O2 Box II.

    http://www.edimax.co.uk/en/produce_d..._id=1&pl2_id=5

I have gone the settings and manual and i cant seem to get this thing to work at all.

Re: Help with Edimax AP - EW7416APN Please

    hello

thanks for getting back to me, yep i can get to that.

i want the device to extended or repeat the signal on the above floor, i got 3 of them so ideally one each floor if needed.

    what ive done so far:

1 - pluged it in the back of the O2 box.
2 - access the the device settings.

the thing i,m wandering about is does the device have to be plugged in to the o2 box?

if so i really cant see the point of actully having it because the o2 box range can reach the 2nd floor but not the other floors.

    thanks

Yes, I'm pretty sure you will need to wire each one to the O2 router, then place them in the area you want covered for wirelss. I haven't studied the specs in full, but I don't think that they are wireless repeaters in that they receive a wireless signal and re-transmit it. (Often called range extenders - althouggh looking at the web site, they are described as range extenders - I'll have a closer look, but may not be able to for a day or two)

The diagram on the site shows them as being wired to the router.

However you may be able to dasy chain them (connect one to the router, and put it on the second floor, then plug this one into the next though eathernet out or something, and so thourth.)

\Scrap that, they only have one eathernet port. First you will need to pulg them in one at a time (to the computer). Right click on the network icon in the taskbar, and click network and sharing center, then go to view stata's, and click on properties. UDMA will prompt here, allow it. Click on Internet Protercall V4 (IPV4), and click properites. Click the box use following IP address, and enter 192.168.2.10 For the subnet mask enter 255.255.255.0.

Then using the internet browser on your computer go to 192.168.2.1, enter the username as admin, and password as 1234, and the properties screen should appear.

Here set up the settings to the same ones as used for your router, giving an approprate ip address (192.168.1.y, where y is any number not in use below 255). Enter the DNS server, defult gateway, and DHCP server with the ip address of your router, (probably 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.254), and set up the security settings, name ect.

Now go back to the IPv4 properties; Right click on the network icon in the taskbar, and click network and sharing center, then go to view stata's, and click on properties. UDMA will prompt here, allow it. Click on Internet Protercall V4 (IPV4), and click properites. Click on set up automatically, or enter the values which you used before.

Now plug the Edimax AP - EW7416APN into a free eathernet socket on your router, and you should be able to connect through it.
