    ADSL Modem Router Upgrade

Looking to upgrade from our current D-Link 604t as it keeps dropping the connection.

Have a budget of £100 for a new router, any recommendations greatly appreciated.

    Re: ADSL Modem Router Upgrade

I have had many ADSL routers and in my experience there are many variables to dropping connection. I read loads of reviews and bought a Netgear Rangemax. That dropped connections the same as my previous one and caused problems with the laptop connection to the router. I then joined O2 broadband and got their "free" router. I still get dropped connections but less frequently.

All Im saying is there may be other reasons such as your ISP, phone line or exchange causing issues.

As for recommendation the Netgear DG834GT appears to be well respected.

Well in the end settled on a D-Link 2740b, don't mind d link and this one has lasted quite a while.

Plus argos was selling it off for £44 where everywhere else was £70-80.

Unless you really need one of the features that top end routers come with e.g. gigabit ethernet switch, wireless 'N', my choice would have been something that you could install routertech firmware on, it's Linux based, as are a lot of routers and has all of the features you'll ever need in a router....
