    iirc your computers hard drives are not shared by default excepting the 'shared documents folder' which is open when you turn on file and printer sharing (run XP's wizards and whatnot).

    You share individual folders rather than drives - although you can do drives in the same way as a folder if you wish (like if you want to share a dvd drive). You could password protect/make hidden/encrypt subfolders if you wished.

    I tested my system with Shields up the other day and, with the firewalls disabled and only relying on NAT, EVERY port came back as stealthed as if it wasnt even there.

    I then switched on the port forward to my FTP server to check and it came back as CLOSED (no FTP server running). This was just to make sure the site was working ok.
