    Odd one for you...

Broadband works fine - no line drops - no issues

Yet - no dial tone on land line phones.

There are 2 phone sockets in the house and neither of them give a ring tone with 2 different phones plugged in - and yes am running them obviously through micro-filters.

    Any ideas/suggestions?

(It used to work - and now doesn't)

I've been away for the last 10 days so I couldn't tell you when it //stopped// working.

Contact BT, there is a fault on the line.

This happened to a friend of mine some time last year. I couldn't understand how ADSL was working yet the phones were dead. I seem to remember the fault was in the street and water related.

it was sorted pretty quickly as voice is a service BT need to provide.

As Funky says, contact BT and raise a voice fault, it's probably down to the (comparativly) extreme weather we have been having.

    Re: Odd one for you...

Just tried the socket behind the socket and that doesn't work either.

I lost BB for a while then but it's back now - thank the lord

I'm going to try and call BT - I've tried to report it online but not sure if that works

I'm presuming that you lost your BB connection while you were testing the test socket behind the faceplate?

If so, then that is normal, as removing the faceplate will usually disconnect everything else

It should be sorted out quickly for you once you've raised the issue as they legally have to provide the voice line.

    Re: Odd one for you...

Best just to call, they will investigate and fix it. Something similar happened to our line last year.

    Re: Odd one for you...

You should check to make sure that the microfilter between the broadband modem, telephone, and wall socket hasn't died. If you're unable to recieve calls its possible that the microfilter is shorting somehow and only allowing broadban traffic through.
