Ah right it looks like it was on 'how do they do it' or something like that - I thought ~8 minutes was a bit short for a full programme.

Isambard Kingdom Brunel's 'vision' is often said to have been to create a high speed link between London and New York hence all the railways, bridges and tunnels and the S.S. Great Britain. After so many engineering triumphs Brunel's last great project, the Great Eastern (largest ship ever built at the time), was a bit of a disaster as a passenger liner.
Fittingly enough, bearing in mind Brunel's initial motivation, she was eventually converted into a cable laying vessel, and was responsible for the first telegraph cable to be laid across the Atlantic.
