Use Sky Broadband without Sky Router?

I've currently got Sky Broadband (had it since September, reasonably happy with it).

Annoying thing is their router doesn;t give you the DSL user/password, so I can't say ditch the router and use a newer one (perhaps with n support) or replace it with an old PC running something like IPCop (giving me more network functions and flexibility etc).

Is it possible to somehow get the username/password and use something other than the Sky router (mine is a grey belkin box).

Usually you just ring up and ask for it.
