    IOS Images for study?

    Hi Folks,

I'm pretty certain I know the answer to this (no), but its worth throwing out there for those who know more than myself.

So, I'm doing my Honours Project this year, and I'm doing it on some stuff relating to IPv6 (I won't give the full details away, 'cause I think its ace - wouldn't want somebody else doing it!).

At the Uni, there is a Lab with 6 Cisco 2611's, which is a suitable amout of Routing Hardware for what I want to do, the only downside is that the IOS image on these routers doesn't appear to support IPv6.

I know I can't download IOS images from cisco.com without a valid support contract, which I don't have - but does anybody know if there is such a thing as a restricted IOS image that can be used for study/learning purposes? As I said, I'm pretty sure there isn't, but if you know otherwise then do let me know!

    Cheers!

    Re: IOS Images for study?

I thought so, but I've asked around and it doesn't look like they do.

The equipment looks to be rented from another company, I might drop them an email too, see if they've got a suitable image I'd be allowed to use.

...don't want to have to come up with a whole new honours project if I can't get a legit IOS image!

IOS images are like any other OS. They have licensing restrictions and discussing getting them any where apart from Cisco would probably be banned here
